Artist profile
Simon Booth is a Manchester-based Mosaic and collage artist born in Oldham in 1976, now living in Saddleworth.
He is mainly a self-taught artist with help from a great secondary school art teacher and very creative fashion and textile design mother.
Although always creating art, he has spent all his working life in the landscape industry. It’s during that time, some years ago, that he decided to mix his landscape experience with his passion for art and try Mosaic as a new medium. With his artistic skills and an exceptional eye for detail, it was a perfect match.
15 years ago Simon exhibited in many places, one being the National Football Museum as part of a 12-month exhibition, celebrating the life of George Best.
Whilst juggling four children, two being newborn twins and a full-time job, he struggled to keep up with the hours spent creating Mosaics.
Recently, Simon decided to pursue his dream. He is now creating again and producing detailed one-off Mosaics that he believes are unrivalled.
With the time now to create and experiment, Simon believes he can and will create works never seen before and will continue to push the boundaries of Mosaic and collage art.
